March 4, 2010 DOT meeting at Companion Dog Training school
We celebrated Doug Givens’ birthday with pizza and cookies. Everyone worked on project for DCA national show April 1-7 at Lawrence, KS, wrapping pens with florist tape and sunflowers. President Marcia Givens called meeting to order. No president report. Minutes of last meeting (Feb. 2010) were read aloud by secretary Melanie Dickey. Motion was made by Lynda Brownson, seconded by Shirley Schillinger, to approve minutes as read, and approved. Treasurer’s report was read aloud by Shirley Schillinger. Motion was made by Melanie Dickey, seconded by Mary Switzer, to approve treasurer’s report as read, and approved. No public relations report. Show committee report- Melanie reported that next DOT specialty will be in Joplin, MO, on November 5, 2010. Suggestions for possible committee chairman- Mary Szafranski for obedience chair, Travis Taylor for chief ring steward (to be asked), trophies- Marcia Givens, ads- Mary Switzer, hospitality- Melanie Dickey, auction- Joyce Smith and Shirley Schillinger. Judge for conformation recommended to be Rick Miller from Minnesota, majority vote of club in agreement to contact Mr. Miller to judge conformation and junior handler. Sweepstakes judge suggestions to be discussed at next meeting. Nominating Committee for spring 2010 will be Shirley Schillinger (board member), Marielle Robinson, and Mary Switzer. They will meet to put together a slate of officer nominees to present at May 1 DOT meeting. New business - 1. Article in Tulsa World about Fire Dept and their use of pet rescue oxygen masks presented to club. Motion made by Shirley Schillinger, seconded by Doug Givens, to donate $100 to Bekah’s Helping Paw Fund c/o Tulsa Community Foundations as listed in newspaper, approved by vote. 2. Lynda Brownson presented ads in Spotter Magazine showing Dals in NYCity, California, and New England doing club activities. She will find out how much a page ad would be in the Spotter to put DOT club pictures of activities and our website in magazine. She will also check on putting our website as an ad in Tulsa Pets magazine. Motion made by Dick Robinson, seconded by Shirley Schillinger, to have Lynda investigate club publicity, approved by vote. 3. Shirley Schillinger and Mary Switzer want to put together an updated member roster, including birthdays, cell numbers, dog’s names etc. 4. Marielle Robinson will bring samples next meeting for club DOT nametags so members can wear them at events. Next meeting/event = DCA show Lawrence, KS, April 1-7. Also meeting/event=Grove, OK, dog show April 15-18. Motion to adjourn by Doug Givens, seconded by Melanie Dickey, and approved. |
